Heavy Weights

After multiple bottles and raw beef and chicken, the  babies are really starting to get  big.  They are 10 and half weeks old and all weigh over 20 pounds.  The weather is getting cooler and they are getting fussier.  They love attention from Tom and myself.  Sadie, their half sister (we know she really isn't)  stays with  them during the day, running and playing and napping.  At night, we bring them back up to the animal house.  They recognize our voice and all Tom has to do is open the gate to their pen, I call their names and they bound for the truck....like little tiger pups.  We have a night time ritual, they get fresh clean bedding and nice warm bottles just before going to sleep.  All is well in their little Tiger world.........

FIRST BATH ON MY OWN

Tigers love water and Sidani had no problem getting into her water bowl first thing when we put them into their new home yesterday.

THATS MY MOMMY TOO!

The babies get along very well with Sadie and Isabella. It won't be long before they will be as big as the puppy.

PLAY TIME

We moved the babies into their new pen, for now that is.  It is much larger and will accommodate their energy levels.  They play for hours on end and then they crash.....Sadie their half sister (puppy) gets in on the action at times too. Live is good!!

ALLIE AND ISABELLA IN THE LIMO

The Today Show was amazing! Everyone was very kind and are real people just like you and me. After the show we were able to spend time with everyone from producers to the control room. Later we were back to the Essex House in the limo. I think Allie and Isabella could get used to the Star treatment! Truly a special time in our lives that we always remember and be thankful for.

GETTING BIGGER EACH DAY

The girls are growing like crazy, and getting really crazy when we let them come into the house. MONSTERS !! Nasira weight in tonight at 15.0. Anjika 14.4 and Sidani 15.8. Sadie the puppy is enjoying her play time with her half sisters and they are big enough to give her a go at her size. It won't be long before the will shoot by her in size. In the first month they tripled in weight. It takes a human baby a year to do that!

FRESH MEAT

The tigers will be 8 weeks old this Sunday. We started them on chicken breast and today was their first day for red meat. They LOVED it. The babies will still be getting lots of milk with their meat. Construction will begin on the new Tiger Pup Habitat soon. Tomorrow we will way them since we were out of town last Sunday. The Oprah Show aired today with the story about Isabella and her babies. They did a great job putting the story together but the quality of the Skypt is pretty poor. Very thankful for the opportunity to be on the show.

Do you believe in Miracles?

We have gotten into this blog without telling the full story.  In the last 3 years everyone has experienced the impact of a slower economy and higher fuel prices.  Of course, Tourism takes a  huge hit.  The Zoo attendance had dropped dramatically and our biggest support comes from visitation from schools which had been effected by the gas prices.  In 2007 we began Project Miracle where people could support animals to get us through the winter.  Allie and I are both Christians and we believe in the power of God and what God's word says.  Hebrews 10:35 says: "Therefore you have need of endurance so that when you have done the will of God you will receive what is promised.  But my righteous one will live by faith and if he shrinks back my soul has no pleasure in Him, for we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the persevering of the soul."  God is constantly trying to show himself to us and that He will care for us if we just trust in Him.   The winter of 2007 came and went and we made it to spring of 2008 and all the animals were cared for, all the bills were paid and we never missed a meal.  We then decided that we didn't want to continue just to "survive" so we began praying that God would change our circumstances, we sat a date of August the 1st as a deadline for either staying open or closing the Zoo.  On August the first we were on the Today Show, The Early Show and Fox News Network.  What are we trying to say?  God has a plan for everyones life, things don't just happen with out a reason - You have to put your trust in Him and know that He has a plan for your life.

New York City

The Tiger cubs are back from their big trip to New York City.   Last Friday we were on the Today Show at NBC studios.  The babies did fantastic and Isabella was her ornery self!  She always steals the show.  The babies names are Sidani, Nasira and Anjeka.  At 8 weeks old now they are beginning to really explore their surroundings and growing bigger every day.  They weigh between 12 to 14 pounds each.    Each day is a new adventure here at Safari Park!

Tiger Pups day 48

Welcome to Safari Zoological Park Blog!  We are a  private zoo in Caney, Kansas.  We love our animals and are dedicated to helping save rare and endangered species.

To catch you up to date, Isabella our Golden Retriever, has been nursing the 3 baby tiger cubs that our Mother White  Tiger abandoned less that 24 hours after having the cubs.   The cubs are now 7 weeks old, healthy and strong.

Many of you have heard about the miracle rescue that Isabella performed by adopting our 3 female white tiger cubs after their mother Sassy quite taking care of them.  Isabella had just finished weaning her own cubs and never hesitated when the cubs first started nursing from her.  Within a few days, the story became famous worldwide, we were on The Today Show, Fox & Friends, and the CBS Early Morning Show, as well as a bunch of other interviews.

We don't know how the story will continue, but we are praying this opportunity will translate into funding that not only helps our zoo survive, but will help us to move to a new location that has room for bigger habitats and is in a better location.

P.S.  If you want to find out more about our zoo go to:  www.safaripark.org.
